MindMap

For Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace and Moodle

The MindMap extension

It reads your courses with your own login, inside your browser, and keeps MindMap up to date: due dates, grades and results, files, instructions and announcements. It never submits, posts or messages anything.

MindMap extension · version 0.6.3

Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc on a Mac, Windows PC or Chromebook.

Add to Chrome

Set it up in about two minutes

  1. 1Create your MindMap account. It's free. Sign up with Google or your email; you'll use the same one in the extension. Create an account
  2. 2Add it from the Chrome Web Store. Press Add to Chrome above, then Add extension. Edge asks you to allow extensions from other stores first; say yes. It updates itself from then on.
  3. 3Pin it and sign in. Click the puzzle piece in the toolbar, pin MindMap, click it, and sign in with Google or your MindMap email and password.
  4. 4Connect your school. Open your school's site (Blackboard, Canvas, Brightspace or Moodle), click MindMap, check it picked the right system, and press Use this site. Allow it when the browser asks. Moodle also asks for your security key (Preferences, Security keys).
  5. 5Sync. Stay logged in to your school site in the same browser and press Sync now. The first sync takes a few minutes. After that it keeps itself up to date whenever you have the site open.

Will it work for me?

  • Yes if your school uses Blackboard Learn (Ultra or Original), Canvas, D2L Brightspace or Moodle, and you use Chrome, Edge, Brave or Arc on a computer.
  • Not yet on Safari, Firefox, phones or tablets. Your MindMap account still works on all of them; only the syncing needs a computer.
  • Something else? Skip the extension. After you sign up, paste your school calendar link for due dates and upload your class files. How that works

What it can and can't see

Only what your own school login can see, only for the school you connect, and only when you're logged in. It reads; it never clicks submit, starts a test, posts or messages. Your school password never leaves your school's site. A Moodle security key stays in your browser. Privacy

Updating

Nothing to do: your browser updates it from the store, usually within a day of a new version. To update right away, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode and press Update.
